Tauranga Civic Choir

Why Tauranga Civic Choir

Tauranga Civic Choir is open to all singers who enjoy mixed-voice choral music and are prepared to audition. With approximately 65 members of mixed ages, the choir provides a warm and supportive environment for people who want to sing quality repertoire alongside others in the Tauranga community. Established in 1961, the group has a long tradition of musical excellence while remaining welcoming to new voices.

The Setting

Rehearsals take place every Monday evening from 7:30pm to 9:30pm at Wesley Methodist Church on 13th Avenue in Tauranga South. The central Tauranga location makes it convenient for singers from across the Bay of Plenty to attend. The church hall offers a comfortable space for weekly practice and preparation for upcoming performances.

Tauranga Civic Choir in the Community

The choir contributes to local life through regular public performances. Members take part in three to four concerts each year as well as ANZAC Day commemorations and citizenship ceremonies. These events allow the group to share its music with the wider Tauranga community while giving singers meaningful performance opportunities.
