Southland Philatelic Society: The Club Experience

The Southland Philatelic Society offers a welcoming space for people who enjoy collecting postage stamps, first day covers and related memorabilia. Based in Invercargill, the society has provided a gathering point for stamp enthusiasts since 1931 and now has around 80 members. It is affiliated with the New Zealand Philatelic Federation Southern Region, which supports its activities and connections with other groups across the country.

Meetings create a relaxed atmosphere where members can share knowledge, show recent acquisitions and discuss the finer points of their collections. Both adult and junior meetings are held, allowing collectors of all ages to participate and learn from one another in a supportive environment.

Where It All Happens

The society is located in the Appleby area of Invercargill, Southland. Monthly meetings take place at the Senior Citizens Centre on the corner of Forth and Nith Streets. Gatherings are held at 8pm on the first Thursday of each month, except January, giving members a regular opportunity to connect in person.
