A little bit about us - we are a non competitive club coaching children in our community from preschoolers to 15 years run by our volunteer coaches and committee who all have the common goal of our gymnasts having fun in a safe manner improving their functional skills around gymnastics. All of our volunteers work, have families and have our gymnasts who have been brought up through our club now learning to coach also. We are an encouraging and fun bunch of people who put our hearts into the club as much as we can to aim to improving gymnastics along the way. If you're keen to muck in and help out, whether that be setting up, coaching, helping on the committee with fundraising, compliance then we encourage you to reach out to our friendly committee team. We hold gymnastics on Wednesday nights during school terms throughout the year at Headon Stadium, Western Street, Matamata. Please read our term newsletters for full details of how our club works. If you like what you see for your gymnast, then create yourself a login and get them registered. Registrations are typically open towards the end of each term. We highly recommend reading our club newsletter before registering so you have all the information and rules we require our gymnasts to follow. Pricing is shown at time of registering. PLEASE NOTE: Our club is extremely popular and registrations fill fast! All gymnasts must be registered and paid prior to gymnastics starting. This ensures that our club can meet necessary payments such affiliation fees to Gymnastics NZ, venue hire, insurance and health and safety. If we have full registrations and people waiting, we will give priority to those who are first in and paid up in full. On occasion we are asked for trials. We can offer one trial lessons for those who want to see what it's all about at a small cost for one lesson. For compliance purposes the gymnast must be registered prior to the lesson and a message or note sent after registration to the club to say it's a trial. If not registered you will need to gain permission from our Comittee and contact details provided before the gymnast/s takes part. We look forward to seeing you at gym! 4: 0 0 p m t o 4: 5 0 p m : P r e s c h o o l c l a s s 5p m t o 6p m : G y m F o r A l l : Y o u n g e r k ids a nd T u m bl i n g g r o up 6 :1 0 p m t o 7 :1 0 p m G y m F o r A l l : O lde r k ids

Fun and Fundamentals at Our Club

Founded on community spirit, Matamata Gymnastics Club embodies the essence of local sports clubs that prioritise participation over competition. These types of gymnastics clubs are all about nurturing physical development through engaging activities, helping children from preschool age up to 15 years discover their potential in a relaxed setting. Our non-competitive ethos means every session focuses on personal growth, with warm-ups leading into ability-matched groups where kids progress towards rewarding badges and incentives from the Gymnastics NZ curriculum. Volunteer parents serve as coaches, bringing their passion and real-life experience to guide sessions that enhance balance, poise, and overall coordination. What sets us apart is our family-like atmosphere—many volunteers are parents who've seen their own children thrive here, and now those young ones are learning to coach, passing on the club's legacy of encouragement and fun. We're a tight-knit group dedicated to making gymnastics accessible and enjoyable, always open to new helpers for everything from equipment setup to committee roles in fundraising and compliance. This volunteer heart ensures our club remains a sustainable, community-powered force for positive experiences in youth sports.
