Girls' Choir Ōtautahi

Inside Girls' Choir Ōtautahi

Girls' Choir Ōtautahi is known for delivering quality choral training to young singers. This auditioned choir caters specifically to girls aged 10 to 17 years and has operated in the Christchurch area since its founding in February 2018. The choir was established by Shannon Hurley and Andrea Koorey in partnership with Christchurch School of Music. Its mission centres on promoting choral artistry through an open, joyful and nurturing environment that supports vocal development and ensemble skills.

Weekly music theory classes are held at 5pm immediately before the Wednesday rehearsal, giving members consistent musical education alongside practical singing. Eligible senior members aged 14 and over can also participate in the Chamber Choir sub-group, which provides additional performance opportunities for more experienced singers.
