Dunedin Star Singers

Why Dunedin Star Singers

Dunedin Star Singers provides women in the Dunedin area with a dedicated space to develop vocal skills through 3-4 part harmony singing. The choir covers a range from light classical works to popular songs, with an emphasis on enjoyment and group performance. Established in 1999, it currently has around 30 members who rehearse under the guidance of conductor Rosemary Tarbotton and accompanist Michael Coull. This setup supports both experienced singers and those exploring choir participation for the first time.

Location and Directions

Rehearsals are held at the Mornington Methodist Church on Galloway Street in Mornington, Dunedin. This central Otago location serves as a regular gathering point for the choir, making it straightforward for local women to attend Tuesday evening sessions at 7pm. The venue supports the group's focus on consistent practice and community involvement in the Mornington suburb.

Dunedin Star Singers in the Community

Performances often take place at museums and alongside other musical groups, highlighting the members' shared interest in harmony and live presentation.
