All About Capital Choir

Capital Choir is a mixed-voice choir based in Wellington that brings together people who enjoy singing a wide range of music. Typical activities centre on weekly rehearsals where members work through pieces from sacred and secular classical traditions, New Zealand compositions, spiritual songs, folk music, musical theatre and popular repertoire. Sessions run in a friendly atmosphere that suits both experienced singers and those new to choral singing, with no auditions required for membership. The choir maintains a steady group of approximately 75 members who meet regularly during school terms to prepare music for occasional performances.

Our Home Ground

The choir is located in Wellington Central and holds its main rehearsals at Central Baptist Church on Boulcott Street. This central city setting provides a convenient and familiar venue for members travelling from across the Wellington region. Rehearsals take place on Tuesday evenings from 7:15pm to 9:15pm during school terms, with occasional extra sessions scheduled on Saturdays when needed for specific projects.
