A Closer Look at West Coast Alpine Club

The West Coast Alpine Club is open and welcoming to anyone interested in outdoor pursuits on the West Coast. It facilitates tramping, mountaineering, skiing, caving, climbing, mountain biking, trail running, kayaking and pack rafting through regular organised trips and shared resources. Members can access the club's indoor climbing wall in Greymouth, which operates every Tuesday and Thursday, along with outdoor climbing sessions often held at Punakaiki during summer. Regular mountain biking takes place at Blue Spur near Hokitika. The club maintains a hut in Arthurs Pass for overnight trips and supports conservation work such as trapping in Paparoa National Park. It also provides expedition grants to help members pursue larger adventures. Memberships are due annually from 1 June, with options listed for Adult, Family, Senior and Student categories.
