The Taranaki Swiss Social Club aims “to conserve, promote and advance the cultural standards of citizens of Swiss blood living within New Zealand“ and provide opportunities for the meeting together of citizens of Swiss blood in social, cultural or sporting gatherings and helps new Swiss immigrants settle into the New Zealand way of life. Offers card evenings, shooting competitions, kegeln and other social events.  Runs an entertainment group.  See website or contact Marianne (contact details below) for local information. Currently our membership stands at just over 350; many members being actively involved in the various activities organised by our committee of seventeen. We offer small bore shooting, keglen (9 pin bowling), jassen (Swiss cards), and various social functions (Picnic, Fondue, Anniversary Shoot, Christmas Shoot and Swiss National Day celebrations). We have several sporting activities including Swiss Society competitions, Schwingen (swiss wrestling at our picnic) and the Cowbell Competition. Our Club is very fortunate to have a Singing and Entertainment group which provides a varied programme for other clubs and organisations from New Plymouth to Waverley; we have also provided lunch and entertainment at our Club house for various groups who have enjoyed the atmosphere as well as the food!!! Our many talented musicians happily entertain at our various functions, and we are so lucky to have them! We are thrilled that many younger people have joined the Taranaki Swiss Club over the past few years, and we look forward to seeing them at our many events. We also celebrate key occasions such as Swiss National Day with enthusiasm, ensuring our heritage remains alive and vibrant for future generations.
