Why South Auckland Choral Society

South Auckland Choral Society is a community-based SATB choir that has been active since 1975. The group presents three concerts each year and performs music ranging from classical works to contemporary and pop arrangements. With approximately 30 singers, the choir draws members from across the greater Auckland area. Rehearsals are designed to be accessible, with no auditions required and extra support available for those who do not read music. This approach allows people with varying levels of experience to take part and enjoy singing together in a structured yet relaxed environment.

The Setting

Based in Papakura, the choir serves singers throughout South Auckland and the wider Auckland region. Members travel from surrounding suburbs to attend rehearsals and performances, creating a regional community of people who enjoy choral music.
