Founded in 1988 by Alex Bennett following his rotary exchange to Chiba, Japan, our club embodies the essence of this traditional Japanese martial art. All are welcome from age 10 upwards, creating a supportive atmosphere that encourages growth in discipline, technique, and mutual respect. Kendo, meaning "the way of the sword," emphasises not just physical strikes with bamboo swords but also mental fortitude and strategic thinking. Whether you're drawn to the rhythmic shouts of "men!" during strikes or the meditative focus required in each movement, Sei Tou Ken Yu Kai offers an authentic pathway to mastering kendo. This sports club stands as a cornerstone for those passionate about martial arts, providing a dedicated environment to hone skills and connect with like-minded individuals in Canterbury.
