Your Guide to Pohutukawa Singers
Pohutukawa Singers is an open and welcoming non-auditioned mixed-voice SATB choir established in 2012. Based in Albany, Auckland, the choir suits singers who enjoy a broad range of music and value a supportive group environment. Around 25 to 30 members come together to explore repertoire from the 16th to 21st centuries, including madrigals, motets, folk songs, carols, jazz, gospel, show tunes and New Zealand and Australian contemporary works. New members are offered two trial rehearsals, and some music reading and part-singing ability is helpful.
Our Home Ground
The choir rehearses every Monday evening from 7 to 9pm at Pinehurst School in Albany, a convenient central location for Auckland’s North Shore singers. Performances are held at Albany Presbyterian Church and St Chad’s Anglican Church in Huapai, with additional carol singing at MOTAT Christmas Lights. These venues are straightforward to reach and provide a pleasant setting for both rehearsals and concerts.
