Nelson Yacht Club Inc is New Zealand’s oldest yacht club, established in 1857. It provides educational, recreational and competitive sailing and water-sports opportunities for families, adults and children throughout the Nelson and Tasman districts. The club runs regular learn-to-sail courses through the summer for both adults and children, along with term-time after-school and weekend training blocks covering sailing, windsurfing and wingfoiling.

Club racing takes place most Saturdays throughout the season, with the first race generally starting at 1330. A Tuesday twilight racing series adds an extra option for members looking to sail in the evenings. Supervised hire and informal racing are also available, giving participants flexible ways to enjoy time on the water.
