All About Kowhai Singers
Kowhai Singers is an un-auditioned mixed-voice community choir that presents choral music to a high standard. The group performs a wide variety of styles including classical, jazz, Broadway and gospel. Established in 1989, the choir is always looking for new members. No music reading is required, although it is helpful, and audio rehearsal parts are available to support learning. Singers can take part in regular rehearsals, additional workshops and performances throughout the year.
Rehearsals are held every Monday from 7:15pm to 9:15pm at Warkworth Methodist Church. Saturday workshops are scheduled at the start of each program and before concerts. A chamber group within the choir holds extra rehearsals for those who wish to participate. These sessions provide a steady structure for members to develop their skills and contribute to the choir’s performances.
