Howick Rhythmics
Howick Rhythmics Our club was founded in 2007 and is the only Rhythmic Gymnastics club currently in East Auckland. We provide classes for gymnasts from 5 years and over in Recreation and Competition Classes. Our gymnasts compete in Auckland, Regional and Nation Wide Competitions in a variety of apparatus. Rhythmic Gymnastics is a sport that promotes creativity, and builds confidence through a mixture of dance and gymnastics elements. As a club we hope to provide a caring environment for your child in order for them to grow as a gymnast to reach their full potential. We hope to coach the children into striving to show harmony between themselves, the apparatus and the music with required difficulties necessary to achieve a well rounded routine. Howick Rhythmics was formed in 2007 by the Head Coach Charnay Mouldey when she was only 17 years old and is the largest Rhythmic Gymnastics Club in East Auckland. Now, Monique Gapes a former gymnast of the club is in the position and she is supported by several senior and junior coaches along with a fantastic committee of parents. As the club is relatively small, we are able to create a supportive and caring environment for our children to be a part of and we pride ourselves on being a fun, friendly and family-orientated club in the East Auckland community. Howick Rhythmics is a non-profit organisation and to keep the cost of term fees down, parents and gymnasts are required to support fundraising initiatives of the Club.
Howick Rhythmics: The Club Experience
Howick Rhythmics offers a unique blend of dance and gymnastics elements in a caring, supportive setting designed for young athletes to flourish. As the largest Rhythmic Gymnastics club in East Auckland, we provide classes for gymnasts aged 5 and over, including both recreation and competition options. Our focus is on promoting creativity and building confidence, helping children develop well-rounded routines that harmonise their movements with apparatus and music. Founded in 2007 by Head Coach Charnay Mouldey at just 17 years old, the club has grown under the leadership of Monique Gapes, a former gymnast, supported by dedicated senior and junior coaches. This family-oriented atmosphere ensures a fun and friendly experience, where every participant feels valued and encouraged to reach their full potential in rhythmic gymnastics.
Our non-profit status keeps term fees affordable, with parents and gymnasts contributing to fundraising initiatives to sustain the club's operations. Gymnasts compete in Auckland, regional, and nationwide events using a variety of apparatus, gaining skills that enhance coordination, grace, and artistic expression. The small size of our club allows for personalised attention, creating a welcoming space where children can grow as athletes in a safe, nurturing environment.
