Welcome to the Heretaunga Boating Club We are a small, family oriented dinghy sailing club located at Petone - one of the safest beaches in Wellington. Our club has something to offer every sailor and those keen on sailing, including instruction for beginners, coaching for those looking to race, racing for the more experienced, and occasional social sailing. We also provide leadership opportunities for our juniors and volunteers, and actively encourage family participation. Affiliated to Yachting New Zealand we sail on Saturdays from late September through to April. Our Saturdays start at 9.00am with junior sailing followed by afternoon racing. Our main boat classes are Optimist, Starling, Fevas, Sunburst and Lasers. Typically in the afternoon we run two back-to-back races with separate starts for Starlings, Sunburst and Open classes, with the first start at 2.00pm. We have a structured junior sailing programme in our fleet of training Optimists and RS Fevas. For adults we provide one-on-one instruction for those wanting to sail at the club.
