About Hawkes Bay Philatelic Society

The Hawkes Bay Philatelic Society has been a cornerstone for stamp and postcard enthusiasts since 1939. Members appreciate the friendly atmosphere where collectors of all experience levels gather to discuss postal history, share items from their collections and participate in regular club activities. The society is affiliated with the NZPF Central Region and maintains a strong focus on both New Zealand and international material.

Regular events include a sales table at most monthly meetings, an auction held each June and a mini exhibition in December run jointly with the Hastings club. The Baker Cup provides an annual competition highlight, while the club library offers resources for research. A bi-monthly newsletter titled The Gannet keeps members informed between meetings.

Location and Directions

The society meets in Westshore, Napier, at the Hawkes Bay Coastguard Building, 704 Meeanee Quay. This central Hawke's Bay location has supported the club since its establishment in 1939, allowing collectors from Napier, Hastings and surrounding districts to attend easily. Meetings take place on the first Monday of each month except January, beginning at 7:00pm.
