Why Coastguard Waiuku
Coastguard Waiuku carries out search and rescue missions across a wide area that includes the Waikato River to Huntly, the Waikato Bar, the West Coast out to 12 nautical miles, and the Manukau Harbour and bar. The team responds to emergencies on the water, supports boating safety and assists vessels in difficulty. Sessions typically involve regular patrols, training exercises and rapid call-outs when needed, all handled by the club's 27 volunteers using two dedicated vessels.

Based in Waiuku, Auckland, Coastguard Waiuku serves as a key local resource for maritime safety in the district. The club has operated from this base since its formation, providing a reliable presence for anyone using the rivers, bars and harbours nearby. Its location makes it well placed to cover both inland waterways and coastal stretches that see regular recreational and commercial traffic.
